Sister Act

Second show in our season passes to the Straz Center Broadway series...Sister Act! It was very similar to the movie with Whoopi Goldberg, which I loved. K1 hadn't seen the movie, so she was a little skeptical of this show. 
Of course we got dressed up, but not as much since it was an afternoon show. However cute we looked in our sweater dresses was soon  regretted as the Florida sun showed us who was really in charge of December weather. So we made the best of it and had some lunch outside by the water.
K1 looked so pretty with the fountains behind her that I forced her into a little photo shoot.

Soon it was time to head in for the show.  The singing was amazing only to be outdone by the costumes. As a 70's era show, there was lots of glitter, feathers, and disco balls. It was quick paced and over before we knew it. A sure sign of a good show. And yes, K1 loved it.
I'm sure the people sitting around us were glad to see us leave, too. We take a gazillion funny poses before getting the right one.
No shows for January, but we have THREE coming up in February. Whew...going to be busy!

Easy Baby Sweater and Hat

After searching and attempting to create the perfect - and quick/easy - baby sweater to give as a gift, I finally just combined a few to make the one I wanted. This particular one is more what I would envision for a girl (regardless of color) because of the lacy pattern created with the shells. My next step to find/create one for a boy. This one is simple enough to work up quickly. I only have a few hours of crochet time at night and I completed the set within 3 days. I imagine if you had half a day you could easily finish it in one setting, depending on your skill level. Crocheted Adventure Time Fiona Hat

Well, my cosplaying kid asked for another crocheted creation, but I don't watch Adventure Time.  I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but this was easy enough and I get to share a free pattern with you.  It straps around the chin with a crocheted button and I had the yarn stashed away.  I love projects that use up leftover yarn, don't you?  I started out with  Lilana Wofsey Dohnert's   Finn hat pattern on Ravelry. Start Running!

Many of you have asked me how I got started with running.  Well, let me tell you!  This was no easy task.  My motto used to be "No one should run unless they are being chased."  Seriously.  Not only could I NOT run, I had always been told I would not ever be ABLE to run.  I have what's called physical activity induced asthma.  How is this different?  It means that any type of physical exertion can cause an asthma attack.  Lucky me!  I found this out when I was on the swim team as a child and pretty much sat everything out from there.
