Dryer Sheets

Who would have thought that dryer sheets could be used for other things other than IN the dryer? Not this girl. In fact, when I got my new dryer, I started cutting my sheets into thirds - now they last almost forever.  CouponCloset The only thing the full sheet gained me was build up on my lint screen which decreased the efficiency of my dryer. My clothes still come out wrinkle and static free, so why mess up my machine? Besides, I have other things that I can use those sheets for. Be sure to check out the links with the photos for even more tips. So, what else can you do with dryer sheets? Keep dust from settling on baseboards, blinds, electronics and lamps around the house by wiping with a dryer sheet. Also helps repel pet hair!  Apartment Therapy Tired of taking Fluffies love to work with you? Use a dryer sheet to wipe it away. Works on furniture and bedding, too! Shower and Tub Cleaner

Image from Joyful Homemaking Keeping with my semi-addiction to Pinterest, I came across a pin that looked promising. I hate cleaning my bathroom and apparently so does everyone else in my house. But, it has to be done. In particular, I hate scrubbing the tub because with our hard water, soap scum is an every day thing.  Margo, over at Joyful Homemaking   posted this little concoction that has turned out pretty well in my tub. I purchased one of those sponge scrubbers and used the dish detergent and vinegar I had on hand. Pretty cheap to try this one out - yes! You simply fill half and half with each (vinegar and dish soap) and then scrub away. It actually gets the soap scum off pretty good, especially off the tiled walls which I can never seem to clean well enough. I hear it works equally well on glass shower doors. I keep the scrubber in the shower and then use it a few times a week while I'm in the shower. Silly? Maybe, but when I'm letting conditioner sit on my hair...

Foggy Headlights

Not long ago, I saw a pin on Pinterest about cleaning your car headlights.  So I pinned it and proceeded to forget about it.  I've been seeing a lot of commercials about headlight cleaners, so I thought I would go find my pin and see if this really works My Pinterest Pin Time to run my own Myth Busters episode. The only thing you need is toothpaste and a rag, which is promising because the ads on TV aren't selling the cheap stuff. See how foggy my headlight looks?  I thought it was condensation on the inside. Nope.  This is actually a build-up on the outside. Ten years worth. Before I grabbed some toothpaste and a clean cloth.  The instructions don't say not to use gel, but I took it as a rule since I don't know that it would have much of an abrasion to it. Then I started rubbing it in with little circles.  I thought my arm was going to fall off.  I could see some of the junk coming off, but I could also see some still there.  I wen...

Spring Cleaning - Brushes

Alright, ladies, it's springtime, so time to get to cleaning. But not this: Real Life Housewife Blog Let your hubby do it (I did!). No, I'm talking about your makeup brushes. Go ahead, look at them.  Pretty gross, huh? HowToCleanStuff.net says:   Makeup brushes can become coated not only with makeup residue, but also with body oils and dead skin, making them havens for bacteria that will decrease the life of your brush, negatively affect the proper application of makeup and can also cause skin problems and possible infection. It is recommended that you clean your makeup brushes after each use and that you give them a thorough cleaning at least once a week.    Eww..gross.  And uh, no. I don't think I have the time to clean after every use. However, I think twice a month will be much better than what I have been doing, which is never. Here's what you need: your dirty brushes 1/2 cup warm water 1/2 cup white vinegar small amount of dis...
