Laundry Room Clean Up

I still cannot  believe  I am sharing with the world how  disastrous  my house has become. It is so  embarrassing . However, there is a happy ending to each one of the tales of woe that I share with you.  This is what has become of my laundry room. Back in January, my dryer finally gave out and the washer was on it's way behind it. I knew the day was coming that I would have to replace them, so this was not a huge surprise. I am totally in love with my new set - complete with fancy pedestals. What I'm not happy with is the larger size that doesn't quite fit in the laundry "closet".  We ended up taking the bi-fold doors off to accommodate them. Not a huge deal, but now I can't hide my mess behind the doors. Because we leave and enter through the garage, the laundry/pantry area is the first and last place we go to on a regular basis. This means stuff get dropped here all the time. Add that to an already cluttered shelving area and you get ...

Tuesday Quick Tip

Have you ever heard someone say, everything I ever needed to know I learned in kindergarten? I think that expression needs to be revised. Maybe if there had been a Pinterest when I was in kindergarten I could agree with it. Ha! This one is so simple that I could kick myself for not thinking of it first. I finally tried this trick out when I opened a new roll of wrapping paper to package my baby shower gift this past weekend. I love when it's all new and perfect. The problem is keeping the paper neat and perfect while storing it.  If you wrap a rubber band around it, it gets all wrinkly and can even tear. If you tape it closed, you ruin the paper when you remove it to wrap the next gift. I have resorted to just leaving it loose, but then it gets caught up on the other rolls of paper and still gets messed up. What I learned from Pinterest: Toilet Paper Rolls! Just cut the roll down the side. Then cuff it around the paper roll. Ta-da!  Probl...

Surprise Package

I came home last night to find this box on my table.  Hmmm....I don't remember ordering anything.  Even hubby was saying, "what did you order this time?" Even more of a mystery is that is was from Joann's.  I know I didn't order anything from them - I usually just go to the store. What could it be?  Who sent it?  Did I win something? Ta da!  Remember last week when I showed you how to wind your own yarn using a stick?  I had also mentioned how I wish I had a winder, but it was a frivolous purchase that would have to wait. I set it up as quick as I could. It was so easy.  Then I just threaded the yarn. With a turn of the handle, I was winding yarn! Look at that! Here's another one I did.  The one on the right I did by hand.  Looks good, but I tend to pull my yarn too tight when I wind and that stretches the yarn.  With the winder, that doesn't happen. It didn't take long for me to knock out three wo...

Ch..Ch..Ch..Changes

David Bowie is on in our house a lot. But how appropriate for today. Making some major design changes here. My wonderful 15-year-old daughter drew me a little princess to put on my banner, so I've been trying to spice up the whole page to incorporate it. I'm hoping to add a lot more in the future, but one step at a time. It seems as though my blog needs as much organization as my house! Time to expand!   Did you notice that we now have a presence of Facebook? Come check it out here . Be sure to "like" us while you are there. Don't forget you can also follow this blog by RSS feed or through GFC over on the right.  Also, you can connect through Twitter or follow on Pinterest - just click on the icons at the top of the blog.     Speaking of Pinterest, my organization board is needing some attention.  I've been a little overwhelmed at all the things I want to organize and I just can't see to get started.   I pinned this idea recently and have been co...
