Color Run 2012

We have stopped being so serious about our 5k races. No, really. We've started looking for races that are fun, in unique locations, or support something that is important to us. It has really made a difference in our experience. This past weekend was exactly that. I had heard about the Color Run from another blogger and it looked like it would be fun.  We signed up early and created a team. K1 decided to name us the Super Awesome Rainbow Unicorns. Huh? Ok, no one could come up with anything, so thus we were named. Then she came up with a design so we could have matching t-shirts. The day before, teammate Mer and I went across the bridge to pick up our race packets. December is beautiful in central Florida and St. Pete is the perfect beach location for a run. We stopped for lunch at a little Thai restaurant that looked not so good on the outside, but was surprisingly cute on the inside. Lanna Thai and Sushi on Park Street gave us good service in a beautiful setting. The ...

Lemon Grass Thai Kitchen

I was talking to someone about Thai food the other day when the Lemon Grass Thai Kitchen was mentioned. K1 and I had a mother/daughter day planned, so this was the perfect time to check it out. We opted for their lunchtime buffet so that we could try everything out. I'm sure glad we did. There was lots to choose from and everything was so fresh! Plus, the whole place was really clean. Even the windowsills were free of any dirt or dust. A+!  I don't typically eat fried food, but they had fried sweet potatoes that were just amazing. Notice the lack of sauce dripping around the plate? I was take that as a good sign on a buffet - I hate food cooked in bulk. However, this was not. They made it in portions and just kept bringing it out. This made it hot, fresh, and perfected cooked.  For dessert we mainly stuck to the fresh cut fruit, but we did try these little sweet cookies. They were pretty good, but my favorite part of the meal was the Thai tea. I'm so addicted! ...

Mango Sticky Rice

I'm very particular about which ethnic food I will try and I have to admit, Thai was not on that list orginally. A friend requested a Thai restaurant for his birthday lunch and I reluctantly went. Boy was I surprised. It's now one of my favorite places to go. There are still many things on the menu I won't eat, but mostly that is due to my dislike of curry. There is another place I go just for their Thai iced tea. Oh, it's so yummy...but I'm the only one in my family who likes it. More for me! Recently, a friend of mine posted a recipe for mango sticky rice and I thought, hmmm...mangos, coconut milk, and rice? It's gotta be good. And it is, plus I love having a reason to go to my local Asian Market. This dessert calls for Thai Sweet Rice. You won't get the same results with your traditional white long grain rice. If you have never been to an Asian Market, you really should check it out. There are so many things to try. I'm sure they all think I...
