Blueberry Picking

We are so fortunate to live in Florida where we get some of the best fruit ever. Not only do we get to eat it, but there are lots of places where you can go pick it, too. My parents used to have an abandoned blueberry farm behind their house, in Georgia, and we would go pick from there. However, because those bushes weren't maintained, they were quite tall and unruly. That farm is now gone and has been replaced with houses, so no more free berries for us.  Instead, we found a cute, little family farm to take the kids to pick blueberries back home in Plant City, Florida. The biggest draw we had to this particular farm was that they are a family farm that loves kids to visit. Proctor Family Farm is clean, well-maintained, and the people are very friendly.  And what a perfect day we had for it. It had rained the night before and it was still overcast, which kept the heat at bay. Plus, this was their opening berry picking day and the rain had washed them all clean for us. We m

Puppy Hugging

Lucky for us, K1 has an insane amount of service hours she has to complete for school. How is that lucky? Well, because we get to go with her and do fun stuff.  Like puppy hugging!   Theses puppies are about 8 weeks old and boy do they have a lot of energy!   And they just love to play. Or get lots of hugs. How can you resist? These puppies are getting socialized by volunteers at the Southeastern Guide Dogs campus in Palmetto, Florida. Puppy hugging is so popular, that starting in May, you have to make a reservation. This is for the puppies (to not get overwhelmed) and for the volunteers (to have enough puppy to go around). The puppies will remain here until they are 9-11 weeks old and then they will go to a foster family. After getting our cuteness overload, we walked over to another building to walk the slightly older dogs.  These dogs have been with a foster family for the past year and are now back on campus for training before going to their forever

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Can I just tell you, this is one of the most fun shows EVER! Really. The costumes, the music, the comedy. Just plain F U N.   We knew we were in for a treat when we entered the theater to see this five foot lipstick on the stage and we were not disappointed.  The story line is a little slow, but the music and songs made up for that. It's always nice when you are familiar with the songs.   Afterwards, it was time for our traditional photo with the show poster on the walk of fame.   Since K1 was all dressed up in her new diva dress, we just had to glam it up with some diva shots. That's a wrap!
